Today was the first day of Winter Quarter, and I think it is off to a really good start. I've only gone to my first two classes so far, but both went pretty well. My mood has been boosted by my certainty that I am enrolled in the easiest math class offered at Cal Poly (theory of math) and that in eleven weeks I will be done with math forever. For all those who hate math, you can imagine how wonderful that feels.
Another mood-booster this afternoon was Psalm 130. I try to make a point to do a "quiet time", time with just me and God, once a day. Because of vacation, and because I am just very lazy, this hasn't happened in quite awhile. So I made a point to sit down this afternoon when all my wonderful (but noisy) roommates were in class and do a quiet time. I read this psalm, and it was so reflective of what I'm feeling. I love when God gives you just what you need! Here it is for anyone who is interested.
Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.
